Art History & Public Policy / 2025 / Arlington, TX

Nicholas previously served as the Social and Recruitment Chair and is now Captain for UChicago Sailing. His favorite boat to sail is a C420. Besides sailing, Nicholas works as a research assistant and a tour guide on campus. His favorite sailing memory is of the team’s first annual social in 2023. In his spare time, Nicholas enjoys exploring Chicago and birdwatching.

Physics & Classics / 2027 / Lille, France

Her sailing experience involves Dinghy and Hobie Cats as a kid, 420s since her last year, and lasers (started this summer). She joined the team because she wanted to gain proper sailing experience while still having fun! She skied competitively until college (unfortunately Illinois is pretty flat), she kitesurfs and wakeboards every so often, and she watches F1. Her favorite team memory is the Kingfisher regatta in the fall of her first year.

Public Policy & Business Economics / 2025 / Rochester, NY

Suzanne joined the sailing team with no previous experience in October 2023 after retiring from her swimming career. Since then, she has participated in two regattas. Her favorite memory from the team was sailing at her first regatta with Charlie, her now co-chair!

Economics & Spanish / 2027 / Houston, TX

Charlie grew up sailing Opti’s for 4 or 5 years as a kid. For anyone unfamiliar, they are a floating bathtub with 3 “airbags” holding them afloat. He joined the team because he wanted to enjoy Lake Michigan, while he is in Chicago. When he’s not sailing, you can catch him on a golf course, or watching all types of football (college football, NFL, Premier and Champions League). His favorite team memory is the campfire we have at the end of each season to enjoy the lake!

Political Science / 2025 / Washington, DC

Anna sailed for five years at summer camp growing up, and started again her second year at UChicago. She joined the Sailing Team because she wanted to get back into sailing and meet new people. Outside of sailing, she plays tennis and the guitar, dances, and cooks.

Economics & CEGU / 2027 / Reston, VA

Lucas joined the sailing team in Fall 2023. From the lake breeze, to that feeling when your sail fills and you start moving, to the thrill of the race, he fell in love with sailing from the first time he tried it! Outside of sailing, he also loves planning out travel logistics for everyone he knows, as well as biking, hiking, going down wikipedia rabbit holes, and more! His favorite sailing memory was crewing for last year’s captain Natalie during her last-ever college sailing race at the Northwestern Regatta in spring 2024!
